TAPS Sharpshooter SPU

TAPS stands for target-acquisition processing system. The TAPS Sharpshooter SPU is an outgrowth of the existing TAPS Sharpshooter Autosoft for drones. The skillsoft version is a target acquisition and firearms expert program interfaces with a chipjack and smartgun system to increase the accuracy of a metahuman gunman. The implanted optical chip connects the Smartgun II system with the chipjack and permits the associated TAPS Skillsoft chip for that specific firearm to download the specifications and ballistic test data on that firearm. The TAPS Targetsoft OCC corrects the projected sighting point in the smartlink II view for range, barrel conditions, and ammunition type, and highlights targets acquired by the smartgun sighting system.

Game Effects
TAPS Sharpshooter grants a Task Pool, equal to its rating, to be used with the firearm encoded on a chip, in a similar fashion to a Skillsoft Expert Driver. The user must have an internal cybernetic smartgun II link, and a chipjack in order for this to work. This task pool is not comulative with any other task pool providing cyber or bioware, but is cumulative with a character's Combat Pool.

C3 System

The C3 (Communications, Command, & Cyber-Optic-Triangulation) System is a fully integrated target aquistion, communications, and tactical evaluation computer network that allows a single trooper to be tied into a command network via his weapon system.

Cyber-Optic Triangulation (COT)

The COT (Cyber-Optic Triangulation) System is the target aquisition end of the C3 system. The COT consists of a variety of sophisticated scopes attached to high resolution digital cameras, which in turn is linked to the COT computer module. The COT computer module takes the data and applies Image Resolution algorithms to integrate all of the information from the various scopes into a single image designed to be outputed to the Image Link of a cybereye via a datajack. The COT system can be modified to transmit an image to a HUD monocle, but at reduced effectiveness.

Well, now Danger Girl Inc. offers you a way to make that dream a reality. The Monofilament Sighting System uses a low powered, visible red diode laser to illuminate the hard to see strand of monofilament and make it that much easier for you to see and control where it goes. Monofilament spools can be very useful. A classic, elegant move is to have a monofilament spool hidden inside a metal button. Remove the button and a matching one from your jacket: the spool’s button is designed to lose its entire loop, while the other one is designed to break in the middle, exposing a set of grips. Put the two buttons together, and pull them apart: you now have a length of monofilament up to a meter long stretched almost invisibly between the two buttons, doing 10S damage to most targets. This can be invaluable for dealing with handcuffs, doorknobs, and the occasional persistent enemy. A set of these buttons costs 500¥, and are available in a variety of crests and monograms.

A similar stunt is possible with small charges of plastique. One button holds an electrical detonator; the other holds concentrated plastic explosive. (Naturally, both buttons are hermetically sealed until broken off the jacket, preventing chemsniffers from discovering them. With the buttons being made of metal, they will be opaque to X-rays.) Press the two buttons together and throw: in five seconds, the detonator’s timer will count down and set off the explosive.

Any appropriate weapons may have a monofilament edge added for +1 Power, or may be Dikoted for +1 staging. (Dikoting, unfortunately, is a high-temperature process that causes monofilament to degrade.)
